Why:
The LAPD, in a collaborative effort with DHS, will unveil an expansion of a new DHS aerial technology system (CIIMS) that will be used for the first time at this year’s Academy Awards ceremony.  The system, called the LA Shield, will enable LAPD to inspect critical infrastructure.  The LA Shield system provides officials with images, geographic coordinates, and inspection-related inquiries that help to assess the security of infrastructure and allows for a real-time exchange of information with police resources on the ground.

A demonstration of an explosive detecting police dog and technology to detect human body-worn threats hidden under layers of clothing such as suicide belts, plastic explosives and grenades.  Photos of the LA Shield will also be on display.
