Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Commercial Crimes detectives are asking for the public’s help with providing information regarding a cargo theft that occurred outside of the Los Angeles Port in Wilmington.
On Nov. 28, 2010, at around 10 p.m., a man posing as a lost driver lured an unarmed security guard out of a cargo yard. Two additional men, described as male blacks, overpowered him and forced their way into the yard. The men told the security guard they were armed with guns and forced the guard into the yard office.
The suspects bound the security guard and an unrelated employee, keeping them imprisoned inside the security office. The suspects entered the yard where detectives believe the cargo theft occurred immediately after. At least four additional tractors were believed to be waiting to enter the facility while the crime was in progress.
The trailers taken were a white freightliner with a Tennessee license plate of T716959, a blue 90’s Peterbilt with a Maine license plate 2332123, and a green 90’s Peterbilt with a Tennessee license plate of T950491.
The security guard and employee were transported to the hospital for minor and moderate injuries.
Earlier on the same day at around 6 p.m., in an unrelated incident, there was a theft of a white Mac tractor that was taken in the Harbor area, with a Calif. License plate of 9E35712 and two additional trailers with Tennessee plates T771784 and U054162.
