LAPD Detention Officer Arrested for Bribery NR14417ne

Van Nuys:  The Los Angeles Police Department’s Special Operations Division, a branch of Professional Standards Bureau, investigated multiple complaints of unlawful bail solicitation at the Van Nuys Jail.  As a result, an LAPD employee was identified as participating in a bail solicitation scheme.

Leonard Ramirez, a civilian detention officer assigned to Van Nuys Jail, unlawfully collaborated with bail agents and received compensation for providing inmate information.

On November 3, 2014, LAPD detectives arrested Detention Officer Ramirez for violating California Penal Code Section 68(a) PC, Bribery.

The investigation is ongoing and will be referred to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Justice System Integrity Division for filing consideration.
