LAPD Mounted Platoon Horse named “Cowboy” Retires NA15181rmh

WHAT: The LAPD’s Mounted Horse “Cowboy”, is retiring after 18 years of service. He is off to an organization that helps children with disabilities.

WHEN: Wednesday September 23, 2015 8:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.

WHERE: Ahmanson Equestrian Facility 3934 Rigali Street Los Angeles, CA 90039 (In the barn – Free parking in the area)

Second Location (Retirement Home for Cowboy) Rose Bowl Riders 4700 Oak Grove Drive La Canada Flintridge, CA 91011 (Across from La Canada High School)

WHO: Police Officer III Joe Willey, Head Trainer

WHY: “Cowboy” served the citizens of Los Angeles for 18 years. He was involved in many details over his career, including the protection of the President of the United States and numerous crime suppression details. His new tour of duty will involve assisting those with disabilities.

“Cowboy” is the second horse that the LAPD has recently retired to serve others in this capacity.
