The Los Angeles Police Department is Seeking the Public’s Help in the Capture and Conviction of a Hit and Run Fatal Suspect
On December 28, 1999, at approximately 8:48 p.m., Pedro Diaz, a pedestrian, was fatally struck in a hit and run collision in front of the 4700 block of Fountain Avenue near New Hampshire Avenue. The suspects vehicle was described as an unidentified burgundy compact with possible paper plates and last seen eastbound on Fountain Avenue to southbound Vermont Avenue.
Pedro Diaz leaves behind his 97 year old father and several brothers and sisters. He was buried in Guadalajara, Mexico.
The City Of Los Angeles is offering a reward of $25,000.00 for information leading to the identification and apprehension of the person responsible for the hit and run killing of Pedro Diaz.
On January 27, 2000, at 2:00 p.m. Central Community Police Station will be holding a press conference in front of the Station, 251 East 6th Street. Detective Felix Padilla, Central Traffic Division, will conduct the press conference. A Spanish-speaking detective will be available.
Councilwoman Jackie Goldberg or a representative from her office, will be present, pending her schedule.
Family members of the victim will be present and a photograph of Pedro Diaz will be available.
