LAPD Statement Regarding Lincoln Heights Murder NR12053mjf

LAPD detectives have confirmed the identity of a murdered woman who was discovered Jan. 26, 2012, on the southbound Glendale freeway onramp from Riverside Drive as 22-year-old Breeanna Guzman of Lincoln Heights.  District 1 Los Angeles City Councilman Ed Reyes has spearheaded reward offers of $50,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the responsible individual(s) in each of the cases (for a total of $100,000).

Los Angeles:  LAPD officials have received a number of calls from the media regarding a possible link between two missing women who have been discovered to have been murdered after their disappearance.

Since the body of a female victim was discovered on January 26, 2012, on the southbound Glendale freeway on-ramp from Riverside Drive in Northeast Area, there has been intense media coverage suggesting that this found female victim is somehow related to the Hollenbeck Area murder of 17 year-old Michelle Lozano whose body was found dumped alongside the southbound I-5 Freeway at the Cesar Chavez off-ramp on April 25, 2011.
 
Robbery-Homicide Division and Hollenbeck Area homicide detectives continue to meet and compare details relative to their respective cases. At this time, Robbery-Homicide Division does not believe the two cases are related.

As of today, the body found on January 26, 2012 has yet to be identified by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

The Lincoln Heights community has expressed great concern about several males in a white van kidnapping young women from the street and strongly believes this white van is related to the two murders.  Robbery-Homicide Division Detectives have investigated numerous leads involving this vehicle, all of which have not been corroborated.  It appears that the information has been released via social media and often times contain second and third hand information. Furthermore, a composite sketch of a possible suspect was also released through outside sources not related to the police department.  The Los Angeles Police Department has not released any composite sketches of any suspects involving these two cases.  If there is a victim, or witness, who has specific information about any vehicles involved in possible kidnaps, please contact the Los Angeles Police Department, Robbery-Homicide Division as soon as possible.
