"LAPD To Conduct Crime Task Force Within West Valley Division"
Los Angeles: On Wednesday, June 25, 2003, dozens of Los Angeles Police Department officers from West Valley Area, Valley Traffic Division, and Valley Bureau Headquarters will focus on violent crime and community quality of life issues in an effort to reduce crime in the San Fernando Valley. The Task Force will emphasize the apprehension of Grand Theft Auto suspects and the recovery of stolen vehicles.
The target zone is the area bordered by Roscoe Boulevard on the north, White Oak Avenue on the east, Desoto Avenue on the west and Sherman Way on the south.
The operation will begin at 8:00 a.m., and continue past midnight. There will be zero tolerance for traffic violations and criminal activity in the affected area. Recent task force operations in other parts of the Valley have resulted in hundreds of traffic citations, vehicle impounds and dozens of arrest. Other similar task force operations to combat violent crime and improve the quality of life will be conducted in other parts of the Valley throughout the year.
