Los Angeles: Today the Los Angeles Police Department unveiled its newest training tool. The Integrated Electronic System (IES) is the latest and most modern training simulator available to law enforcement today.
The simulator allows the Department to create and customize its own tactical scenarios, simulating real-world field situations encountered by officers every day.
"This simulator replaces the Firearms Training Simulator (FATS) machine that has been in use by the Department since the mid-1980s. The new system employs advanced technology to expose officers to more realistic scenarios. It evaluates their decision making judgment and assesses their choices regarding use of force," said Commander Terry Hara of the LAPD Training Group.
By September, all nineteen LAPD geographic areas will have the new simulators deployed in their respective stations.
