WHEN: Wednesday, June 5, 2019 10:00 a.m.
WHERE: Los Angeles Police Department Metropolitan Division 2710 West Temple Street Los Angeles, California 90026
WHO: LAPD Captain Craig Valenzuela, Metropolitan Division LAPD Lieutenant Ruben Lopez, SWAT, Metropolitan Division LAPD Sergeant Jose Castellanos, SWAT, Metropolitan Division LAPD Officer Jonathan Pultz, SWAT, Metropolitan Division
WHY: On June 5, we will be hosting 15-year-old Kolton Witte from the state of Wisconsin. The Make a Wish Foundation has granted his wish to be partners with his father who is a Wisconsin law enforcement officer. Kolton won’t let him retire until they are partners for a day (his medical condition prevents this from being a possibility in the future).
At 10:00 a.m., Kolton will take a modified Physical Fitness Qualifier. We will then present him with a certificate to become an honorary member for the day. He will then head off to LAPD Air Support Division after his SWAT tryout and tour of Metropolitan Division. After taking a ride in the airship, he will be transported to Elsyisan Park Academy by BearCat from the landing zone. He will view a demo by the team and interact with them as well.
The Make a Wish Foundation will be sending a videographer to highlight the day and raise awareness. Members of the media are invited to cover the tryout and certificate presentation:
