On Saturday, March 6, 1999, Los Angeles Police Officer II Ann Bozzi, Community Relations Section, was the recipient of the L.A.C.E. award presented by the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center for public service, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. The Public Service Award is given to an open lesbian or bisexual women locally at some level of government who have made significant contributions to advancing the civil rights of, improving the image of, and/or serving as a role model for lesbians and gay men.

Officer Bozzi has been a Los Angeles Police Officer for five years. She is currently the liaison officer to the Gay and Lesbian Community. In that capacity, one of her responsibilities is to establish and maintain positive liaison with members of the Gay and Lesbian Community. Officer Bozzi attends quarterly meetings with the Chief of Police, Department staff officers and representatives of lesbian and gay community groups. She is also part of the Police Department’s Vice Working Group, which meets monthly with members of the gay and lesbian community to deal with issues of vice related enforcement. Officer Bozzi works closely with the Anti-Violence Project of the Gay and Lesbian Center’s Legal Services Department.

Officer Bozzi staffs the Los Angeles Police Department stop-in center at the Gay and Lesbian Center’s Village at Ed Gould Plaza. As an openly gay officer, she is able to provide personal service and advise to those who are reluctant to go to a police station. Officer Bozzi has a well-earned reputation for her professionalism yet relaxed disposition, and is able to discuss any police related subject.

Officer Bozzi’s professionalism, dedication and true commitment has resulted in building trust and confidence between the Police Department and the Gay and Lesbian Community. Through her work as the Police Department’s Gay and Lesbian Liaison Officer and for her participation in major recruitment events, Officer Bozzi is projecting a positive police officer image to the Community and fellow officers. Bernard C. Parks, Chief of Police stated, "We are very proud of Officer Ann Bozzi. She is a true reflection of the new LAPD and a positive role model."
