Los Angeles: Civilian oversight is the cornerstone of Constitutional Policing and it is critical in our ability to build trust with our residents. The Los Angeles Board of Police Commissioners Vice President Shane Murphy Goldsmith has spent the last four years dedicated to that mission. As she steps down this week from her role on the Board, the Los Angeles Police Department thanks her for her diligent service and we wish her well in her future endeavors. Ms. Goldsmith helped shape the LAPD’s policies and procedures regarding community policing, homelessness, and juvenile pre-arrest diversion.
The LAPD remains dedicated to our Core Values and will continue to work diligently with our civilian Board of Police Commissioners “To Protect and To Serve” the people of Los Angeles as we welcome Los Angeles Police Commissioner nominee, William Briggs.
