Los Angeles: On Tuesday, August 2, 2005, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., the Los Angeles Police Department and the communities we serve will participate in “National Night Out.”
For the 22nd year, America’s neighborhoods will unite with local law enforcement agencies to improve the quality of life and continue the effort to achieve a society free from the incidence and fear of crime.
Some events include cookouts, block parties, and open houses at local police stations.
Residents may also show their participation by turning on their porch lights. Illuminated blue lights represent community members who support law enforcement.
Los Angeles Police Chief William J. Bratton and Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa will also join the festivities and celebrate “National Night Out” at the LAPD’s Northeast and Hollenbeck Police Stations.
