Los Angeles Police Foundation’s Eighth Annual TRUE BLUE Fundraising Event

September 24, 2007

WHAT:
The Los Angeles Police Foundation’s (LAPF) Eighth Annual TRUE BLUE event will pay tribute to the men and women of the Los Angeles Police Department and those who support them.

During the event, ten LAPD officers will be presented with the Crystal Angel Award given for community service both on and off duty. One LAPD detective will become the first recipient of the prestigious Guardian Angel Award for outstanding duty performance. The Foundation will also honor Academy Award Winner Brian Grazer, producer of such hits as the FOX series 24 and feature films including The Da Vinci Code and A Beautiful Mind.

This "street party" style event will feature music, gourmet dinner buffets, wine tasting and more than 100 silent and live auction items. Unique auction items include a one-of-a-kind piece from Phillip Press Jeweler, two first class tickets to Europe, and a flight on a Russian MIG fighter jet.

Guests will have the opportunity to test their own judgment and tactical skills by participating in computer-based simulations of real world scenarios encountered by police officers in the field, on the LAPD Force Options Simulator. Guests will also see and test new police technologies, including the T-3 Personal Mobile Unit. The LAPD SWAT Team, detectives from the Cold Case Unit and Criminalists from Scientific Investigation Division are just a few of the more than 30 specialized units who will showcase their equipment and meet with guests.
