Los Angeles – On Sunday, July 1, 2001 at 2:00P.M., the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and the Los Angeles Sparks will host the 1st Safe and Sound Fair. The Los Angeles Police Department encourages the public and the media to attend the Safety Fair to gain valuable information about holiday safety from the men and women who help keep our community safe.
The Safe and Sound Fair will be a fun-filled day of family interactive entertainment. DARE Vehicles, Fire Safety Vehicles, and Emergency Helicopters will be at the Fair for a close-up view and tour. Several agencies will have DARE and Recruitment Displays, along with the FBI who will have "Nikko" the dog search for hidden items.
During the Safety Fair, the above agencies will be playing in a 2-Ball competition, with the two final teams playing during the half time of the Sparks Basketball game. After the Safety Fair, the Sparks VS Miami Sol game will start at 6:30 P.M. The agencies listed above will also be honoring their Officers and personnel who have received the Medal of Valor for the year 2000 during the half time.
