Vermont Square: The Los Angeles Police Department’s South Bureau Homicide detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect responsible for the shooting death of a 23-year-old male bystander at the scene of a street takeover.
On Friday, November 17, 2023, around 11:55 p.m., 77th Area patrol officers responded to an “ADW Shooting” call near the intersection of 54th Street and Manhattan Place.
When officers arrived at 54th Street and Western Avenue, they encountered numerous vehicles and pedestrians dispersing from the area. Officers were directed to 54th Street and Manhattan Place where they located the victim on the ground, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the victim deceased at-scene. The victim’s name is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification.
The suspect is described as a male wearing dark clothing.
