Man Shot and Killed in San Pedro

Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department Harbor Area Homicide detectives are asking for the public’s help in providing any information that would lead to the arrest of the suspect(s) who shot and killed a man in San Pedro.    

On Sunday, February 13, 2011, at around 6:05 p.m., dispatch received a 9-1-1 call of shots fired near the intersection of West 1st Street and Palos Verdes Street in San Pedro.  When officers arrived, they found a man, later identified as 18-year-old Jose Roman of San Pedro, with what appeared to be a gunshot wounds to his back.    

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics rushed Roman to a local hospital where he died.

Detectives believe that Roman was part of a group of four male Hispanics seen in front of a residence in the 100 block of South Palos Verdes Street.  The group began arguing, the argument escalated into a fist-fight, at which time Suspect No.1 pulled out a handgun and fired numerous rounds striking Roman in the back.  Suspects No.1 and 2 ran from the scene together.  

Suspect No.1 is described as a male Hispanic with long curly hair, 20-25-years-old, last seen wearing a baggy white shirt.  Suspect No.2 is described as a male Hispanic, 20-25-years-old, last seen wearing a red shirt.  Detectives believe that the motive for this crime is gang related.
