Valley Village: Los Angeles Police Department Valley Bureau Homicide detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect responsible for killing a man.
On September 16, 2023, at 8:04 a.m., North Hollywood Area patrol officers responded to a “Death Investigation” radio call at Tujunga Avenue and Cumpston Street. A homeless encampment encompasses the north sidewalk of Cumpston Street. Officers located what appeared to be a deceased male inside a tent at the encampment.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the male victim deceased at scene. The decedent is described as a 38-year-old male Black. He is believed to be a local man, known to have been experiencing homelessness. His identification is being withheld pending notification to next of kin.
Preliminary investigation revealed his death may have been an overdose related event. Narcotic paraphernalia was present. The subsequent investigation revealed that the decedent had sustained a gunshot wound.
