Man Shot in Knickerson Gardens Housing Project

Los Angeles: On Sunday, August 17, 2003, at 5:15 a.m., Southeast Area Patrol Officers responded to a radio call of an assault with a deadly weapon, shots fired in the 1400 block of East 111th Place. When the officers arrived they saw the victim, 32-year-old, Phillip Ray Cathcart lying on the ground with a gunshot wound.
Los Angeles City Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the victim dead at scene.
The motive for this shooting is unknown and the suspect(s) remain outstanding.
