Los Angeles: A man was fatally shot on Sunday afternoon in the Pico-Union District of Los Angeles.
On February 10, 2008 at about 1:30 PM, Officers responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon call investigation at the 400 block of South Union Drive.
Upon arrival, officers observed Pedro Morales, 23, of Los Angeles, down on the street suffering from a gunshot wound. Morales was taken to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.
The investigation reveals Morales was standing in front of 433 South Union Drive when the suspect exited a car and confronted Morales. A verbal altercation ensued at which time Morales started running away from the suspect. The suspect pursued him on foot and removed a handgun and fired several times at Morales striking him. The suspect entered an awaiting vehicle and drove off south bound towards 6th Street.
The suspect is described as a male Hispanic, 5 feet 5 inches tall, 150 lbs., and is 20/25 years of age. He was wearing a white T-shirt, black pants, and short hair. The vehicle was described as a white, 4-door.
The driver was described, as a male, Hispanic, 25 years of age.
The motive for the shooting is believed to be gang related.
The suspects are unknown. The weapon used is outstanding.
