Man Struck and Killed by Passenger Train NR11495cj

Los Angeles: LAPD Valley Traffic Detectives are asking for public help in providing information about a collision between a passenger train and a pedestrian in Northridge.    

On October 21, 2011, around 9:45 a.m., LAPD Valley Traffic Division officers received a radio call of a traffic collision in the area of Parthenia Street and Lindley Avenue.When the officer’s arrived, they found an unresponsive man suffering from a traumatic injury. They also discovered a passenger train stopped in the same area. It appeared that the train was involved in a collision with the man. The victim was pronounced dead by LAFD rescue personnel. No passengers from the train were harmed in the collision.  

The detectives’ investigation revealed an Amtrak passenger train, traveling westbound, south of Parthenia Street and west of Lindley Avenue, struck a male pedestrian walking westbound on the south side of the tracks. The pedestrian is described as a 28-year-old male white and his identity is being withheld pending notification to the next of kin.
