WHY:
In response to increasing thefts targeting newer Hyundai vehicles without push-button ignitions, Hyundai introduced a free anti-theft software upgrade. The upgrade was created to prevent the vehicles from being turned on by anyone (without the designated key) by utilizing a simple and rudimentary method. The method was becoming widely known through videos and tutorials posted on the internet. Although this software upgrade has been available since February 2023, the majority of affected vehicles have not been updated, leaving them susceptible to being stolen.
On Sunday, December 3, 2023, from 8 am to 3 pm, Mission Hills Hyundai, in partnership with Mission Area Detectives, will be hosting a mobile clinic allowing Hyundai owners to get the software update, free of charge. The clinic will take place in the Facey Medical parking lot at 11165 N. Sepulveda Boulevard, adjacent to Mission Station. The update will take approximately twenty- minutes per vehicle. Hyundai owners are encouraged to schedule an appointment at https://www.mhhyundai.com/recall-event.htm. To check if your vehicle is eligible for the update, visit www.HyundaiAntiTheft.com.
