Los Angeles: Mothers on the march (MOM) will be holding a Christmas Tree Decorating Ceremony at 77th Street Community Police Station on Wednesday, December 11, 2002, at 7:00 p.m. During the ceremony, mothers who have lost a child or loved one to violence will place a decoration on the tree in memory of their loved one. The purpose of the program is to bring attention to the loss of human life and the real costs involved.
MOM was founded by the 77th Street Area of the Los Angeles Police Department and is committed to bring together mothers and other persons, who have lost a close relative or friend to violence, for the purpose of causing a positive impact on society and the persons who have suffered the loss. MOM hopes to reduce the level of violence while providing positive activities and role models for the youth.
