Motorcyclist Killed, Driver of Vehicle Booked for Murder NR11268kr

Los Angeles:  The driver of a vehicle that turned left in front of a motorcycle has been booked for murder.

On Monday, June 13, 2011, at around 3:20 p.m., 56-year-old Roberto Casillas was driving a 1987 Nissan pickup truck eastbound on Vanowen Street to northbound Etiwanda Avenue on a green light. Casillas failed to yield the right-of-way to 25-year-old Steve Josue Campos who was traveling westbound on Vanowen Street, also on a green light, on a 2010 Yamaha R6 motorcycle.

Campos suffered major injuries and was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Casillas was treated for minor injuries then arrested and booked into Van Nuys jail for murder. He is being held on $1,020,000.00 bail.
