Multi-2 Arrests in Assault with A Deadly Weapon/Attempt Robbery NR23217ti

Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department’s Wilshire Division detectives announce the arrest of one adult and one juvenile for Assault with A Deadly Weapon.

On July 23, 2023, around 1:00 p.m., officers responded to a radio call of an Assault with a Deadly Weapon inside a restaurant near the 1800 block of South La Brea Avenue. When the officers arrived, the suspects had fled the location. The officers were able to review a video that depicts the victim with a group of males waiting to order food from a restaurant.

The two suspects entered the restaurant and approached the victim. Suspect–1 attempted to remove the victim’s necklace. The victim and his friends intervened and struggled with the suspects. During the struggle Suspect–2 produced an assault rifle type of weapon from his waistband and pointed it at the victim. The victim, his friends and the suspects had left the location prior to police arrival.

Detectives followed investigative leads and identified the suspects. On July 25, 2023, Wilshire Patrol Officers located and arrested 22-year-old Dean Mckoy and a 17-year-old male juvenile. Both suspects are residents of Los Angeles and were booked for an Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Mckoy’s bail was set at $50,000.00 and he was placed on a parole hold, (Booking No.6647835). The juvenile’s identity is being withheld due to his age.
