Murder Charges Filed in Harbor Gateway Homicide

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s South Bureau Homicide Detectives announce the arrest of four suspects responsible for the shootings of Joel Villalobos and Pedro Arias.

On March 3, 2024, two people were shot in the 12000 block of South Figueroa Street. The first victim, Joel Villalobos, was killed by gunfire and a second victim, Pedro Arias, was injured.

The following suspects were identified as being involved in the shooting:

Suspect 1: Ivan Gonzalez, a 21-year-old resident of Lynwood
Suspect 2: Luis Chavez, a 47-year-old resident of Inglewood
Suspect 3: Christian Castillo, an 18-year-old resident of Gardena
Suspect 4: Daniel Murillo, an 18-year-old resident of Gardena

On March 4, 2024, Murillo was arrested for 187 (A) PC: Murder and booked at 77th Jail with $3,000,000 bail, booking number 6769882. On March 6, 2024, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed charges against Murillo for the murder of Villalobos and attempted murder of Arias.

On March 19, 2024, Chavez and Castillo were arrested for 187 (A) PC: Murder and booked at 77th Jail with $2,000,000 bail each. Chavez’s booking number is 6778089 and Castillo’s booking number is 6778009. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed charges against Chavez and Castillo for murder, attempted murder, and conspiracy.

On March 20, 2024, Gonzalez was arrested for 187 (A) PC: Murder and booked at 77th Jail with $2,000,000 bail, booking number 6778822. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed charges against Gonzalez for conspiracy.
