North Hollywood: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Bureau Homicide detectives announce the arrest of a murder suspect.
On Saturday, December 28, 2024, at around 4:40 p.m., Los Angeles Police Department’s North Hollywood Area Officers responded to a radio call regarding an “Assault With A Deadly Weapon, Domestic Violence” near the 12900 block of Willard Street. Upon arrival, officers met with multiple witnesses and the Los Angeles Fire Department. A female victim was located and transported to a local hospital with major head trauma.
The initial investigation revealed that the female victim and the male suspect had been in a dating relationship for two years and had been involved in an altercation outside a residence. The suspect entered the driver’s compartment of a nearby vehicle, while the female victim stood near the driver’s door. As the suspect began to drive away, the victim clung to the vehicle. The suspect accelerated to unsafe speeds and drove through several short residential streets while making violent maneuvers to force the victim from the car. Eventually, the victim was thrown from the vehicle and struck the pavement. The suspect fled the scene in the same vehicle.
The victim remained in grave condition at the hospital for several days. A crime scene was established, and the Operations-Valley Bureau Homicide Unit was notified and responded.
The suspect was identified as 34-year-old Edgar Gutierrez of Panorama City. The victim was a 27-year-old female from North Hills, California.
A warrant was issued for Gutierrez and his vehicle. On Sunday, December 29, 2024, Burbank Police Officers, while on patrol, located and arrested Edgar Gutierrez in Burbank around 12:15 p.m., without incident. Gutierrez was booked at the LAPD Valley Jail on charges of attempted murder with bail set at $1 million. LAPD Booking Number: 6943800.
On December 30, 2024, the victim was declared deceased at a local hospital.
On December 31, 2024, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed murder charges against Edgar Gutierrez.
