Los Angeles: On Friday, May 17, 2002, at 1:00 p.m., the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) will commemorate National Police Week with a memorial ceremony. The LAPD will pay tribute to the Los Angeles Police officers who have been killed in the line of duty since 1907. This year in remembrance of September 11th, the LAPD has assembled 74 Los Angeles Police officers representing law enforcement personnel, including Sirus, the Bomb Detection K-9, who perished in the New York terrorist attacks. The men and women represent law enforcement officers from the Port Authority Police Department, New York Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation and the United States Department of the Treasury.
