Los Angeles – On Friday, May 11, 2001, at 1:00 p.m., the Los Angeles Police Department will commemorate National Police Week commencing with a memorial ceremony. The LAPD will pay tribute to the 194 fallen officers since 1907. This year in addition to honoring the fallen officers of the distant and recent past, the LAPD will remember Officer Robert Mata who died in the line of duty on September 19, 2000. The name of Officer Robert Mata will join the 194 others who are inscribed on the granite memorial in front of Parker Center. The Memorial Ceremony will take place at:
