News Conference to Announce the 18th Annual Fight for Life Charity Boxing Event Benefitting the City of Hope

Why:    
In 1994, deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) were working patrol in East Los Angeles when they met a young boy stricken with cancer.The deputies were so inspired by their new young friend that they brought together the law enforcement community and their passion forboxing to raise money for him and his family,ultimately improving their quality of life.Since then, police officers from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and deputies from the LASD have been raising money to benefit people stricken with life-threatening diseases and illnesses through the competitive Fight for Life boxing charity event.To date,the Fight for Life has raised nearly$1 million for the City of Hope.

Please note that the actual charity boxing event will take place on Friday, December 2, 2011, at the Quiet Cannon located at 901 North Via San Clemente, Montebello.Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the boxing matches will begin at 7 p.m.
