Suspect arrested in Downtown Los Angeles Hotel
for Offering to Administer Counterfeit Botox and Juvaderm without a
Medical License

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles
Police Department’s Commercial Crimes Division, Illicit
Pharmaceutical and Counterfeit Unit (IPCU), announce the arrest of
Vivian Espinoza for 11352.1 H&S-Furnishing Prescription Drugs
Without a License and 2052 B&P-Practice of Medicine Without a
License.

On January 23, 2021, around 11 a.m., Espinoza was arrested for
offering to administer counterfeit Botox to undercover officers
near the 400 block of South Figueroa Street. Espinoza set up a
mobile makeshift medical office within the hotel room and offered
to inject undercover detectives with counterfeit Botox and
Juvaderm. IPCU Detectives also confiscated pdo threading, needles,
syringes and other materials that should only be possessed by
licensed medical professionals.

Of the 281 seized items, samples were sent to the laboratory for
testing and deemed counterfeit by the manufacturer in violation of
recorded and registered trademarks.

The purchase of counterfeit products may be hazardous to your
health. In many instances counterfeit cosmetic materials have been
known to cause serious adverse reactions such as infections, facial
paralysis, tissue death and blindness. Manufacturers of counterfeit
products are not beholden to the same rigorous materials and safety
testing standards.

In order to prevent the risk of buying counterfeit, only buy from
authorized medical providers or directly from the manufacturers,
do your due diligence when researching the names and places of
your suppliers.

Anyone with information about this crime, has been sold medical
services by Vivian Espinoza or regarding counterfeit crimes are
