Information Sought on Fatal Hit and Run; Pedestrian Struck by Two Hit and Run Drivers NR21055jc

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division detectives are asking for the public’s help in providing any information that would lead to the identification of two drivers involved in a hit and run traffic collision that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.

On February 26, 2021, around 7:40 p.m., a 2001 Toyota Camry was traveling northbound on Glenoaks Boulevard, north of Vinedale Avenue, when it collided with a pedestrian that was crossing eastbound outside of the marked crosswalk. The pedestrian landed on the roadway and was struck by a second and third vehicle. The driver of the Toyota Camry immediately stopped and remained at the scene as required by law. The second and third vehicles that were involved and fled the scene and are described as a dark gray Sports Utility Vehicle and a dark Sports Utility Vehicle; Both drivers failed to stop, render aid, and/or identify themselves as required by California law.

Paramedics of the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene and pronounced the pedestrian dead. The victim is described as a 60-year-old female. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification to the next of kin.

Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
