Non-Contact Hit and Run Leaves One Severely Injured NR24223dc

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s West Traffic Division is asking for the public’s assistance in locating the driver of a vehicle that was involved in a Non-Contact Hit and Run traffic collision that left one person with severe injuries.

On Saturday, July 20, 2024, around 2:00 a.m., a Nissan Frontier pick-up was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Normandie Avenue, north of 1st street. A newer model blue Chevrolet Camaro swerved into the lane the Nissan was traveling in causing it to crash into parked vehicles.

The driver of the blue Chevrolet Camaro failed to stop, identify themselves, and/or render aid to the injured person and fled the scene southbound Normandie Avenue.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the severely injured 31-year-old female passenger to a local hospital for medical treatment. The driver of the Nissan Frontier was identified as 35-year-old Luis Sanches-Galicia, a resident of Los Angeles. He was booked for 23153 (A) VC – Felony DUI, Booking No. 6850391.

Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.
