Non-Tactical Unintentional Discharge (NTUD) NRF010-22bb

On April 22, 2022, at around 11:15 p.m., an off-duty Police Officer assigned to Hollenbeck Division experienced a Non-Tactical Negligent Discharge (NTUD) while inside his residence. According to the officer, while he was removing his off-duty weapon from the holster, he inadvertently fired his pistol into his wall. The round penetrated the shared wall, landing in the adjoining apartment. The officer was alone in his residence and the neighbor was not home at the time of the incident.

No officers were injured during this incident.

Force Investigation Division detectives responded to the scene and are investigating this incident.
