Non-Tactical Unintentional Discharge (NTUD)
On May 1, 2023, at around 11:38 a.m., an on-duty sergeant assigned to Training Division was inside an office workspace when he removed his duty belt to use the restroom. The sergeant unholstered his firearm from the duty belt, removed the seated magazine, and then placed the firearm on his desk. An on-duty police officer, also assigned to Training Division, and in the presence of the sergeant, picked up the firearm when he experienced a Non-Tactical Unintentional Discharge (NTUD) occurred.
One round was discharged. No one was injured during the incident. Force Investigation Division (FID) detectives responded to the scene and are investigating this incident.
