Non-Tactical Unintentional Discharge (NTUD) NRF032-24bb

June 18, 2024

On June 17, 2024, at around 7:30a.m., an on-duty Police Officer III assigned to Police Training and Education was handling his Department approved, private purchased firearm and had a Non-Tactical Unintentional Discharge in his office workspace.

While dry firing, a round was discharged, penetrating a nearby wall. A preliminary analysis of the trajectory indicated the round traveled over nearby trees outside of the office space and landed in an unknown location. After an extensive canvass of the area, no evidence of the round was discovered.

The officer was alone in the office, and no one was injured during the incident.

Force Investigation Division (FID) detectives responded to the scene and are investigating this incident.
