Officer-Involved Shooting – Animal NRF045-21ne

On August 10, 2021, at around 5:00 p.m., Central Area Narcotics Enforcement Detail (NED) officers were conducting an investigation, at the 1300 Block of Sunset Boulevard, related to auto parts theft and narcotics. As the officers detained individuals at that location, a dog attacked one officer and an Officer-Involved Shooting of an animal occurred. The dog sustained a single gunshot wound and died at scene. The involved officer was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital where he was treated and released.
The area of the animal shooting was secured.
No officers or civilians were injured by the gunfire during the incident.
Force Investigation Division was notified and assumed investigative responsibility of the incident.
