“Officer Involved Shooting of Armed Suspect”
 
Los Angeles: On Wednesday, November 12, 2003, at approximately 10:30 p.m., two Los Angeles Police Officers were involved in a shooting in the area of East 56th Street and San Pedro Street, in the Newton Area.
The two officers, who ordinarily ride motorcycles, were working in a black and white police vehicle due to the rainy weather. The officers observed a white vehicle commit a traffic violation and conducted a vehicle stop. The driver exited the vehicle and began to walk away. When the officers approached him, the suspect produced a handgun and fired at the officers. After an exchange of gunfire, the suspect fled the location.
The suspect is described as a male, Hispanic, in his mid-twenties to early thirties. Neither officer was injured. It is unknown if the suspect was wounded.
