On June 13, 2022, around 7: 25 p.m., an off-duty Rampart Division Reserve Officer, was informed that a vicious dog was loose in his neighborhood, attacking people as they walked their dogs. The officer drove out into the neighborhood and observed a Gray Pit Bull attack various people walking with their dogs and children. The Pit Bull then charged toward a couple walking two dogs and began violently mauling one dog. Knowing that there were numerous people in the area, the officer identified himself, directed a couple to step back and using his Department back-up weapon fired one round. The Pit Bull immediately stopped, collapsed, and died at the scene.
The couple’s dog was transported to a veterinarian and succumbed to injuries sustained.
No one was injured during the incident.
