Los Angeles: Last night LAPD officers saved the life of a 49-year-old West Hills woman.
On Tuesday evening, February 8, 2006, at about 10:00 p.m., West Valley officers Cid Camacho and Melissa Leon received a radio call of an attempt suicide in the 7800 block of Lena Avenue.
The police arrived at the woman’s home and were met outside by the woman’s brother, who was attempting to make contact with his sister. The officers managed to enter the residence and found her on the ground, incoherent and losing consciousness. They immediately called paramedics.
While waiting for the ambulance, the woman lost consciousness and stopped breathing. Officers Camacho and Leon initiated CPR. As a result of their efforts, the woman regained consciousness and began breathing on her own. Paramedics arrived and immediately transported her to a local hospital.
The woman’s family is extremely grateful to the two officers for their actions.
