Officers Help with Delivery of a Baby NR16156

Los Angeles: Two Los Angeles
Police Department Officers helped with a baby delivery on the early
morning of Mother’s Day.

On May 8, 2016, at about 5:00 a.m., Officer Maraea Toomalatai, and
Officer Brian Armendariz, were patrolling the area of Adams
Boulevard and Grand Avenue when they observed a White Chevy 4-Door
vehicle, speeding northbound on Grand Avenue. They followed the
vehicle and conducted a traffic stop of the two frantic
occupants.

When they began their investigation, they quickly discovered that
the passenger, Ms. Sasha Murphy, was about to give birth. The
officers told the father, Mohammed Tindley, who was driving, to
follow them.

The officers escorted the soon to be mother and father, Code-3 to
Dignity Health California Medical Center located at 1338 South Hope
Street in Los Angeles.

When they arrived at the hospital, one officer alerted the hospital
staff and the other officer assisted Ms. Murphy, who gave birth to
a healthy baby boy.

Messiah Tindley was born on Mother’s Day, inside the vehicle
escorted by LAPD officers.

On Mother’s Day, two LAPD Newton Area officers, with 3 years of
service each, made an everlasting impression in our community, they
both made a difference. The officer’s quick thinking, compassion,
reasoning, and loving character, reflected positively in our
community.

These two officers understand the importance of our mission, vision
and core values and should be commended.
