Homicide Suspect Arrested
Vermont-Slauson: On Tuesday, March 19, 2024, around 8:50 p.m., 77th Area patrol officers responded to a radio call of a “victim down” in the 5800 block of South Hoover Street. The victim, 24-year-old Gerardo Medina-Garcia, Meraxes, was located in the roadway, suffering from a gunshot wound. There was evidence that the victim had also been struck by a vehicle. The Los Angeles City Fire Department responded and pronounced the victim deceased at scene. Los Angeles Police Department South Bureau Homicide Division detectives responded to the scene and assumed investigative responsibility.
On Friday, March 29, 2024, around 1:30 p.m., the suspect, 29-year-old Bryan Blackmon, a resident of Los Angeles, was arrested in the City of Hawthorne by members of the Los Angeles Police Department Gang and Narcotics Division / FBI Fugitive Task Force.
On Tuesday, April 2, 2024, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed Murder charges on Bryan Blackmon.

One Person Killed on Vermont-Slauson
Vermont-Slauson: The Los Angeles Police Department’s South Bureau Homicide detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect, or suspects, responsible for the shooting death of one victim.
On March 19, 2024, around 8:50 p.m., 77th Area patrol officers responded to a radio call of a “victim down” in the 5800 block of South Hoover Street.
When the officers arrived, they located the victim, a 24-year-old female, in the roadway suffering from a gunshot wound. There was evidence that the victim had also been struck by a vehicle. The Los Angeles City Fire Department responded and pronounced the victim deceased at scene.
