Update

The Chief of Police authorized the release of the name of the officer who was involved in the incident below. The officer has been identified as Central Area Police Officer II Victor Corral, Serial No. 31720.

The Department’s understanding of the facts and circumstances may change as additional evidence is collected and analyzed**

Ontario: The California Department of Justice (DOJ), pursuant to Assembly Bill 1506 (AB 1506), is investigating and will independently review an Officer- Involved Shooting by an off-duty Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officer that occurred in Ontario, California on Thursday, May 30, 2024.

LAPD’s Force Investigation Division investigators responded to the scene to gather information for an administrative investigation only.

The Los Angeles Police Department is fully cooperating with the Department of Justice’s investigation. The LAPD will not produce a Critical Incident Community Briefing video for this incident, as the criminal investigation is being handled entirely by the California Department of Justice.
