WHAT:
LAPD Affinity Group Mixer and Hiring Event

WHEN:
Saturday, December17, 2022
8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

WHERE:
Ahmanson Recruit Training Center
5651 W. Manchester Av
Los Angeles, California 90045

WHY:
The goal of this hiring event is to “lower the temperature,” address misconceptions and engage diverse police officer prospects. Participants will interact with officers of all ranks with similar life stories.

Noting the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in police hiring, prospects will interact with top level LAPD command staff, officers, and Department Affinity Groups. Among those scheduled to participate will be Assistant Chief Al Labrada, Deputy Chief Emada Tingirides, and Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton. The Department Affinity Groups include the Association of Black Law Enforcement Executives, Latin American Law Enforcement Association, Law Enforcement Association of Asian Pacifics, Los Angeles Women’s Police Officers and Associates, Oscar Joel Bryant Foundation and members of the LGBTQ + communities. The panel will speak about their journey to and through becoming a police officer through command officer.

Prospects will participate in breakout sessions to demystify background investigations and learn about community service, job opportunities, salary, benefits and financial literacy.

Prospects will dine with officers and be afforded the opportunity to develop mentorship relationships. Those participants may begin the LAPD seven-step hiring process by completing the Multiple-Choice exam at the event.
