Police Responding to “Help Call” Involved in Crash NRM24-09bb

Los Angeles: Patrol officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Southwest Area were involved in a traffic crash resulting in injuries while responding to a “help call”.

On June 23, 2024, at around 5:55 p.m., officers responded to a radio call of a male armed with a knife in the area of Adams Boulevard and Saint James Place. When the officers arrived to the area of the call, they determined that immediate assistance was required, prompting a “help call” to detain the armed suspect.

While responding to this help call with lights and sirens activated (Code-3), a patrol unit was involved in a crash with another vehicle at the intersection of Adams Boulevard and Gramercy Place. The crash resulted in the lone male driver of the other vehicle sustaining injuries which required hospitalization. The officers involved in the crash also sustained minor injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital where they were treated and released.

The Multi-Disciplinary Collision Investigation Team (MCIT) responded to the scene to conduct the Traffic Crash Report.
