"Prowler Suspect Victimizes Elderly Couple"

Granada Hills – On Saturday, November 11, 2000, at approximately 4:50 A.M. Devonshire Area patrol officers responded to the 10600 block of Sylvia Avenue for a "prowler suspect there now" radio call. The preliminary investigation has revealed that the victims, a 77-year-old and his disabled, 74-year-old wife were at home asleep when a noise and a light shining from the hallway outside of the upstairs master bedroom had awakened the male victim. Concerned for his safety and the safety of his disabled wife, who was asleep downstairs, the victim armed himself with a handgun and proceeded to check the residence and to check on the welfare of his wife. The suspect confronted the victim and fired an unknown type of firearm at him. The victim returned fire with his private firearm, striking the suspect.

The suspect is only described as a male, 5’9" – 5’10", 160 – 180 pounds, and was last seen wearing dark clothing.

Neither of the victims were injured during this incident however, the suspect is believed to have received a gunshot wound to an unknown part of his body. The suspect is outstanding and is believed to be armed and dangerous.
