Rampart Detectives Conduct Homicide Investigation

Los Angeles: On August 17, 2002, at approximately 1:15 a.m., Wilshire and Rampart Patrol Officers responded to a shooting call at 3100 block of West 8th Street. Upon their arrival the officers observed four individuals who had sustained gunshot wounds. All four victims were transported to local hospitals for medical treatment. One of the victims, a male Hispanic, seventeen years of age, died as the result of his wounds. The other three shooting victims’ injuries were not believed to be life threatening.
The investigation revealed the victims were shot after the suspect was removed from the Vitamin E Club, located at 3131 West 8th Street, by security personnel. The suspect went to a vehicle and removed an unknown caliber handgun. The suspect returned to the club entrance and began shooting at individuals standing on the sidewalk in front of the club. The suspect then fled the location.
The suspect is described as a male Hispanic, 19 to 20 years of age, had a shaved head with multiple scars in the back-left area of the head. He was wearing a White baggie T-shirt and black pants.
The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The motive for this shooting appears to have developed from a dispute.
