Renovation & Upgrade of Weingart YMCA Youth Center NA19142ml

WHAT: Two-day community service project led by Under Armour and the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation to renovate and update the Weingart YMCA, as well as host a fitness clinic with local law enforcement mentors from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), and provide healthy meals to the youth.

WHY: The Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation will join Under Armour on October 23 and October 24 to support US Freedom Initiative by facilitating building upgrades and youth programming at the Weingart YMCA.

The two-day community service project includes renovating and updating club facilities, hosting a multi-sport youth clinic alongside the Los Angeles Police Department, and providing healthy meals to participants.

Under Armour created the UA Freedom Initiative with the mission to support and inspire the brave men and women dedicated to protecting their communities, day in and day out. In addition, the UA Freedom Initiative joins the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation to help law enforcement officers and first responders serve the youth in their community, while connecting young people snd first responder agencies across the country through volunteer projects and support of the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation’s Badges for Baseball program.

Los Angeles is the final community service project apart of the three-city UA Freedom volunteer initiative with the Ripken Foundation. Other cities included Baltimore, Maryland and Austin, Texas.
