WHAT:
South Traffic Division Detectives will be announcing $50,000 reward, passing out reward flyers, and releasing video and images of the suspect’s vehicle involved in a fatal hit and run that occurred on November 23rd, 2022, on Western Ave and Slauson Ave.

WHY:
On November 23, 2022, around 2:25 a.m., the victim Kimela Franklin was walking northbound with a shopping cart on Western Ave north of Slauson Ave when she was struck and killed by light mid-size sedan. The suspect made a UTurn after striking Kimela and observed her lying in the roadway. The suspect fled southbound Western Ave, failing to stop, identify him/her self, or render aid to the victim who was fatally injured. The suspect was last seen eastbound on 60th Pl from Western Ave with a black SUV giving chase as a possible witness. South Traffic Detectives will be asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect. Detectives will also provide an update on the case.
