Reward Increased to $100,000

Councilman Ed Reyes will hold a news conference to announce a reward increase in an unsolved double murder.

Los Angeles: On January 2, 1993, at about 8:00 a.m., the Los Angeles Fire Department Personnel responded to a structure fire in the 800 block of North Avenue 50 in Highland Park. Victims, 22 year-old Veronica Ultreras and three year-old Cinthia Ultreras, were discovered inside the house by witnesses and the fire department personnel who responded to the scene.
The Los Angeles Fire Department’s Arson Section investigated the fire and determined the fire was intentionally started and is being investigated as arson. Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Criminal Conspiracy Section assumed the responsibility for the double murder investigation.
In 1997, after exhausting all leads in the investigation without results, a $25, 000 reward was offered, but proved fruitless.
It is expected that the reward increase will generate new leads in the investigation and that the person(s) responsible for this crime will be brought to justice.
