"Reward Offered in Connection with Rampart Murder"

Why:
Detectives from Rampart Homicide Division will be holding a press conference to request the public’s assistance in solving a homicide that occurred on April 3, 2004, in the Rampart area. Early that Saturday morning Maxwell Hazlett’s body was discovered in the roadway at the intersection of Emerald and 3rd Streets.
Mr. Hazlett was a student at USC. He was walking home to his apartment from Figueroa Street and Washington Boulevard when he was abducted. Detectives believe the motive for the murder was robbery.
In response to a motion from City Council Member Ed Reyes’ office, the City of Los Angeles is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the identification, arrest and prosecution of the person or persons responsible for the death of Mr. Hazlett.
